And One More Thing, Resolutions
Just wanted to pass along a little trick that I use when writing software. About half of our 600 monitors are still 1024x768. We don't replace monitors until they are dead as good custodians of taxpayer dollars, and LCD panels are lasting many years. Usually IT developers have wide screens and some of them have dual monitors. It's easy to forget about the rest of our users, and suddenly software is developed that doesn't fit on their screens. Nothing worse than having to re-engineer a beautiful UI after finding this out during beta testing.

Don't forget, many netbooks have only 1024x600.
Why don't you use Xnest or Xephyr for resolution testing?
Wow, that is a really simple and elegant solution. Pretty cool.
@anonymous: We only have a few netbooks in use, I suspect they will move to tablets here pretty quickly, but yes a good thing to keep in mind.
@anonymous: Xnest would do the same thing for sure. This maybe is a bit low tech, but it helps me keep an eye on my screens. I just quickly slide them over to the box and check them.

You could use something like this for comparing resolutions (gnuplot source)
Don't forget to adjust the pixel density!
